So how do you keep that long magnet from getting stuck to the PCB keeping it from closing?
Using a stainless screw to mount the board fixes the problem with the magnet attracting to the screw as they are not so magnetic.

This is not an ideal design. The lever that actuates the sensor gets stuck in the activated position. I believe this is due to the magnet being attracted to the M3 bolts that connects the sensor to the housing.

I’ve printed the cover for this a few times and I’m not sure if it’s supposed to snap on but mine doesn’t really lock in place. Just lays there and is prone to rattling. Can someone confirm if this is correct or if there’s an updated part that actually snaps on?
Hi Joey,
The original design required some precise tolerances to get a good snap, which was not ideal. In the Setup-guide: 05. Sensor Add-On for MK3s we link to a remix made by Wolfgang Schadow, with some improvements on the original design. I suggest you try out this version instead.

One issue I had:
I print highly absorbent filaments (PVB, Nylon, Woods, etc). All of my spools are contained in dryboxes, with a PTFE tube to the extruder. I had to design & print my own filament sensor cover which would accommodate a pneumatic fitting, as the Bontech upgrade would not. This cover is useless to me, as it wont fit properly (unless printed perfectly), it has no screw hole (when the extruder housing is specifically designed for a screw), and there’s no riser for an additional tube fitting.
Designing and printing the cover I needed only took a few minutes, but I shouldn’t have had to. I’m not the only person using PTFE tubes as filament feeders. If designers at Bondtech want to mod their own designs, that should be one of them. This one is unnecessary.

Our friend Wolfgang from Caribou made a remix of this design already back in April 2019.
If you read the installation guide for the sensor add-on you can see that we recommend using his design.
It’s utilizing a screw to secure the top cover and have variants for pneumatic fitting.
