Surprising Improvement From Simple Maintenance Task

At Bondtech we use several 3D printers to assist on our product development. Most design iterations are tested with 3D printed parts. Recently we were having some issues with one of our upgraded Prusa. 3D prints were not as good as expected, even with the Bondtech upgrade installed. After a quick print model to evaluate alternative solutions, we took the easiest one first: a proper cleaning of the nozzle.

We just hit gold!!
The test print after the nozzle cleaning was absolutely amazing.
Check the before and after of the bottom and top layers in the image above.

How much can a simple maintenance task do?!
This is not a solution to every problem, but sometimes simple fixes yield great results.

Extruder Body Update Set for MK2.5/3 Upgrade Kit

Bondtech launches an Extruder Body Rebuild Set to update MK2.5/3 Upgrade Kits, after several owners requested it.
This new product is aimed to update those kits up to the MK3S level.

Prusa i3 MK3S

Prusa Research updated their filament sensor technology by featuring an IR filament sensor that is insensitive to the optical features of filaments and is activated by a mechanical lever. The Prusa 3D printers upgraded with this and other features were branded MK3S. Not only the name and abilities changed, our Upgrade Kit’s fit to this new model would also change.

MK2.5/3 to MK3S

In response to this evolution, we updated the design of our previous model and launched a new version named Prusa i3 MK3S Upgrade Kit. Although it was very well received by the market, with sales spiking immediately after the launch, recent buyers of the MK2.5/3 Upgrade Kit were not happy. After receiving some justified requests, and to protect their investment, we now launch this minimal product update, minding the lowest possible impact through cost while assuring the full MK3S capacity is reached.

Bondtech’s Leadership

As always, Bondtech maintains the mission of securing and improving the value our customers derive from their 3D printers, and it is this focus on customer relationships and the quality of our products that ensures us, and will keep us ensuring, the position of market leader.

Prusa MK3S Filament sensor add-on.

We have now a design ready that will make it possible to use the new filament sensor that Prusa released with the MK3s with our upgrade for Prusa printers. You will need the new sensor and the parts that came with this. The design can be downloaded from our Github and printed by yourself in about 1 hour.

This video shows how the auto load / unload works:

Load / Unload script

In order to load or unload the filament in your printer a simple G-code script can be used. Thees script can be copied to your SD-Card and be executed by simply selecting to print the specific program and it will be executed accordingly. Name your file so something that is easy to remember and maybe also put them in a subfolder on the SD-card for easy access. Name your file ex. “load.gcode” so the printer will recognize the file as a programThere are two versions of each load/unload script, a simple version and a more advanced version. Please note that you will have to put in the lenght of the bowden tube on your printer in order to get the function working properly. The scripts can be downloaded as a zip-file on this link

Simple version of Load-script

G92 E0 ;Reset the position of the extruder G1 E600 F2000 ;Feed 600 mm of filament at 2000 mm/minute speed, change 600 to the lenght of your bowdentube. G92 E0 ;Reset the position of the extruder

Simple version of Unload-script

G92 E0 ;Reset the position of the extruder G1 E-700 F2000 ;Retract 700 mm of filament at 2000 mm/minute speed, change 700 to the lenght of your bowdentube + 100 mm. G92 E0 ;Reset the position of the extruder

Advanced version of Load-script

3D printer extrusion problem

A lot of the people who visit our website, have a 3D printer extrusion problem. Unreliable extrusion is a universal problem and that is why we made a solution for it.We noticed that there were some problem with the extrusion when we built our own 3D printer, after the patents connected to the FDM technology were released. The extrusion was not reliable and we were not satisfied at all. We began to wonder if there could be a better way to extrude the material and we started to work on a solution. The first extruder we produced worked very well and it solved the extrusion problem due to be able to provide high extrusion force without slipping on the filament.

Solution for the 3D printer extrusion problem

Filament grinding and slippage is now a thing of the past. Our extruders gives you the markets highest performance, precision and reliability with its Dual Drive gear system. The Quick Release lever makes it easy to change filament. The spring-loaded secondary drive gear adapts to filament variations and optimal pressure and it can be adjusted to match your preferences. The extruders CNC-machined precision drive gears are hardened to withstand wear from abrasive filaments. The super sharp drive gear teeth’s, grips the filament from both sides which gives very high available feeding force to ensure uninterrupted material flow to avoid under extrusions.
Throughout the duration of my relationship with 3d printing, I have at one point or another experimented with nearly every conceivable type of extruder, working my way from PLA all the way to the most exotic of filament. I’ve gone direct, Bowden, I’ve modded and tinkered and succeeded and failed and then… Then came the Bondtech QR with a [genuine] E3Dv6 hot end. I feel like the perpetual bachelor who, after 20 odd years of failed relationships, has at long last found the one! This extruder might very well be the most effective product I’ve ever purchased, in any category. It just keeps on going, with utter consistency, no matter the filament type. I have watched with utter shock and gratitude as it laid down perfect layers of Flexible, Nylon, wood-filled, carbon-filled, and countless others. Its double-hobbed, geared drive system will just keep going, and your prints will exude quality that you didn’t think possible right off the bed.-Technology Specialist | Dallas, TX
